Welcome to the Cigarette Card Gallery at Golf Logo Collections. We are
delighted that you stopped by and we hope you enjoy perusing our
cigarette and trade card collections. English cigarette cards were
first introduced around 1875 to encourage tobacco sales and,
interestingly, to provide some support for the cigarette pack itself.
The cards come in a variety of sizes with the "standard" size being
approximately 65x35mm or 2.5x1.5 inches.
The practice of including cards with packs of cigarettes flourished
until 1939 when legislation at the outbreak of war imposed restrictions
on the use of paper. These regulations were not imposed during the
First World War and the cards were used to boost morale and serve as
propaganda. After World War Two other trade cards were produced, but
with limited success.
Each set of cards has a theme which can range from Arts & Entertainment
to Sports to Flora & Fauna to Military to Transport, etc., etc. There
are a number of golf theme collections which we are offering, but
because of the beauty and history surrounding cigarette cards in
general, we have opted to offer a number of non 'golf card collections
including tennis, baseball, horse racing and boxing.
Our
5x7 and 8x10 collections are framed in our standard mahogany accented
frames with linen matting. Our larger collections are available in
three custom wood frames. Choose from mahogany burl, blond burl and
gold stripe.
